Lahti 24.4.2004
Today I didn’t had to travel far, only 17 km. Yet the morning was too busy. There were problems with the entry papers. Yes! It was a show weekend. The annual spring CACIB show in Lahti, my home town, and I was late! Our judge was a well known schnauzer breeder Anneli Alftan. I have always respected her judgments. As a matter of fact when I years ago had an idea to change the breed I silently in my mind planned to buy a giant schnauzer and from her well known kennel Beries. Fortunately that was then just an idea and there were not any litters available. I returned to my own breed.
The ring was already running when I finally got the papers in my hand. The dog's number should have been inside the envelope but somebody had missed that when posting all the other information. I was right and had paid everything according the rules. I had promised myself to take pictures whole day long. Of course the converasations and the own dog ruined the plans again.
Olga was on a good mood. The whole family, Petri, Milla and Nippe were helping her to show. We need sometimes some planning to overcome the difficulties seen in the shows before. Who says the show is just to enter the scene and receive a price. The show is an obidience trial in a certain respect. The dog should know what is coming and he/she must know to play with. Too often people just bring their dogs and are convinced that the judge will see how georgious their dogs are. If the dogs are jumping all around or they are not interested at all, they will show their worst qualities to the judge. It is the quickly flying moments when we all make our decisions, that is true with the judging as well.
I think we managed to hide the faults or to bring our bests up as Olga was the Best of Breed and went within the best ten dogs in the group 2. We all were very happy, but the happiness disappaired when I noticed I had once again lost one item. My jacket with the keys to the car was vanished. I run around the hall. No sign of it. After half an hour run and detective work I remembered the shop where I bought a present to my dog at home. At the same time a friend of mine has discovered the secret of a unknown jacket with the keyes in the pocket. This is a jacket of a Dobermann owner as there is this picture and as these are the keyes of the car Mervi is driving. It is a strong possibility she again has lost something. The guess was right and I was right and we all met at the stand of nice dog items. I could start towards home where Frisco was waiting her presents.
